Israel is currently one of the most dynamic start-up hubs on the planet and was ranked 2nd in The World Economic Forum's innovative countries ranking, overtaking the US and the UK. Not surprisingly, Israel has more Nasdaq-listed companies than any other country in the world, except for the US and China. In 2016, Israeli startups raised $4.8 billion in venture funding and saw exits worth $9.2 billion.
Research and development (R&D) is a thrust area for the country, which has more scientists and tech professionals per capita than any other nation. There are approximately 320 R&D Centers of Multinational Corporations, as well as 240 Startup Accelerators, Incubators and Innovation Centers supporting almost 6000 startups, located in Israel.
